Missing PA Wife Found Dead In Closet, Husband Charged: Police

A Philadelphia man was charged with Abuse of a Corpse after his dead wife was found in a closet, police announced on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Lola Karabaeva, 61, of the 9000 block of Diplomat Place, was reported missing on Sunday, Oct. 13, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. Officers spoke with witnesses who reported that they last spoke to her at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Northeast Detectives returned to the residence to continue investigating, on Wednesday, Oct. 16, police said. During their search of the property, they found Karabaeva's corpse wrapped in plastic inside a closet. 

Medics pronounced Karabaeva dead at 10:13 a.m., according to police. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

Karabaeva’s husband, Vladimir Lushevskiy, 65, was taken into custody and charged with Abuse of a Corpse, police said. 

Additional charges may be filed against Lushevskiy depending on the outcome of the investigation, which is now being handled by the Homicide Unit, according to police.

Court documents and bail information on Lushevskiy were not available at the time of publication.
